The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has condemned in the strongest possible terms the killing of yet another police member by a criminal who was to be arrested.
A Detective Warrant Officer was murdered this afternoon by a suspect who was sought for Assault GBH and Theft out of motor vehicle. It is understood the police were following up information after cases of theft out of motor vehicle and assault GBH were reported against the suspect. The information led police to a house in the town of Louis Trichardt.
The suspect became violent when the police wanted to arrest him and he stabbed the 59 year old Detective Warrant Officer. The member later died in hospital.
The 30 year old suspect was arrested after he was cornered and subdued in the house.
The suspect will appear before the Louis Trichardt Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of murder, theft out of motor vehicle and assault GBH. RIP #FinalSalute #PoliceKillings
