A fetus was found in a drain in Birchleigh in Kempton Park last night at approximately 18h00.
ER24 paramedics were called to the scene after plumbers had apparently spotted the body after being called out for a blocked drain.
Paramedics were called to the scene around 22h00 and found the body lying on the pavement showing no signs of life.
It was evident to paramedics that the fetus had been dead for some time. Nothing more could be done by paramedics.
Local authorities were on the scene to investigate further.
