Two suspects were apprehended by the public after they attempted to break into a house on Adams Road in Lotusville – Verulam this morning (Thursday).
At approximately 07:50 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the property after receiving a call of a house break-in in progress. As Reaction Officers drove onto the property they found the suspects wrestling with two individuals. Officers intervened and restrained both suspects.
It was established that the Waterloo residents had jumped over a perimeter fence and were in the process of breaking into the premises when they were noticed by tenants. The tenants attempted to apprehend the suspects who resisted arrest. One suspect attempted to stab a 21 year old man with an Okapi pocket knife. His dad drew a pellet gun (picture 4) and threatened to shoot the suspects who threw the knife into dense vegation behind the property.
The suspects initially surrendered but attempted to once again attack the father and son shortly before the arrival of RUSA Officers.
One of the victim’s suffered bruising to his arms during the scuffle however he did not require medical attention.
