Yesterday the Provincial Drug Task Team were conducting their crime prevention duties at KwaDukuza area as part of Safer Festive Season operations to curb drugs related crimes in the area. While patrolling, they followed up information about a suspect who was allegedly dealing in drugs in the area. The members proceeded to identified premises at Russels Street, KwaDukuza, armed with a search warrant. The premises was searched and pieces of rock cocaine, meth, A digital scal as well as cocaine powder were recovered to the street value of R11 200-00. The members also found R1 500-00 cash suspected to be the proceeds of drugs. A 30-year-old man was arrested and charged for possession of drugs. The suspect will appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
The KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa welcomed the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of drugs at KwaDukuza area. “The team will enhance our performance and put extra efforts in getting rid of illicit drugs from the streets. I further appeal to the community to work together with the team by providing information about any drug-related cases in their areas,” he said. #DrugsOffTheStreets#SaferFestiveSeason
