A black Mamba measuring approximately 2.3 metres in length was captured on a property on Catherine Street near Trurolands in Tongaat a short while ago.
At approximately 16:22 Reaction Unit South Africa received a call from the home owner requesting assistance to remove a large black snake from their property. Upon arrival Reaction Officers found the snake behind a stack of unused floor tiles. The snake was identified as the highly venomous Black Mamba.
Neville Wolmarans, a professional snake catcher from Ndlondlo Reptile Park was called out to the scene and upon arrival captured the snake without incident. It is believed that the snake had consumed a kitten shortly before being captured.
The snake was removed from the property by Wolmarans and will be relocated to a more appropriate location.
