On Tuesday 9th January 2018, the grandfather of this young boy approached Nemato SAPS for assistance as he was concerned that the boy was living in an old open shack. Sgt Ajah then did enquiries and found out that the young boy was left in the care of his grandmother, who had unfortunately suffered a stroke and was unable to further take care of him. This young man then left as he was not happy with his living conditions. Sgt Ajah asked that the child remains with the grandfather and that he would assist him in getting him back to school.
On Tuesday 14th January 2018, Sgt Ajah received information that this young boy was also now chased away from his grandfather’s house. After discussions with the grandfather, Sgt Ajah placed this young man in the care of a caring community member while seeking avenues to address solutions to the matter.
Sgt Ajah together with Cst Mali and Cst Mbangcolo went the extra mile by assisting this young man and his caregiver to find a school, registered him and even bought him school uniform for his first day.
With so much gratitude Sergeant Ajah said “Everyday I wake up determined to deliver a better life for someone. This time I could make a difference in the life of a 12-year-old boy. It gave me delight knowing that I was called to play a part in improving this boy’s life”.
The Station Commander, Capt Qinga congratulated his members on a job well done and for their assistance in nurturing the future of the young boy.
