Eighteen people were left injured this morning when a taxi rolled off the R300 near the N2 turnoff in Mitchells Plain in the Western Cape.
ER24 paramedics, along with Metro Rescue, arrived on the scene, finding a taxi on the side of the road on a small embankment. Several passengers from the taxi were found walking around on the scene while one was found lying trapped beneath the vehicle.
Metro Rescue services had to use specialized equipment to free the patient from beneath the vehicle.
Once freed, paramedics assessed the patients and found that eighteen had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Fortunately, no fatalities were found at the scene.
The patients were treated for their injuries and were thereafter transported to various private and provincial hospitals for further care.
The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
