A Tongaat resident was killed after being knocked down by a train in Temple Valley – Verulam a short while ago.
At approximately 07:07 members of Reaction Unit South Africa was called out to the scene by the public who witnessed the incident. Upon arrival, the body of the deceased was found ripped into two pieces. Human remains were strewn along the railway line approximately 100 metres away from the point of impact.
It was establised that the deceased was proceeding to his place of work on Republic Street in Lotusville and was run over by the train while taking a shortcut. It is alleged that he had his earphones on and was listening to music and therefore did not hear the train approaching. The deceased’s identity has been established.
Authorities are investigating further.
