A 32-year-old man was critically injured and three other people suffered moderate injuries following a collision at the corner of Cotoonwood and Inanda Road in Trenance Park – Verulam.
At approximately 13:10 members of Reaction Unit South Africa was called out to the scene by passing motorists and residents in the area reporting the collision. Upon arrival the driver of an Isuzu bakkie was found lying face down on the ground.
He had suffered life-threatening injuries after his bakkie collided into a Toyota Hiace taxi and overturned multiple times. The three occupants of the Isuzu bakkie were ejected from the vehicle. Medics stabilised the injured on scene before transporting them to hospital.
It is alleged that the bakkie was travelling in the direction of Verulam when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided into a taxi that was traveling in the opposite direction.
A passenger in the taxi suffered minor injuries and was also transported to hospital.
