A security guard has been killed and another is in a critical condition after an attempted robbery at a mall in Osiziweni, Newcastle this afternoon.
At 13h45 ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene and found a guard, believed to be in his 30s, sustained approximately eleven gunshot wounds to his body.
There was unfortunately nothing ER24 paramedics could do to save the man and he was declared dead on the scene.
Another guard, believed to be in his 20s, was in a critical condition after being shot four times and he was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
Five other people sustained minor injuries and they were treated and transported to hospital by other emergency services on scene.
The exact details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
