Limpopo: The SAPS Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has strongly condemned any form of abuse of children with the strongest terms.
This follows the arrest of a 35-year-old woman from Cooperspark village in Matlala Policing precinct, for the brutal assault of her 5-year-old son.
The suspect has since appeared briefly before the Matlala Magistrate’s Court on a charge of child abuse and assault GBH this week and her cases were postponed to the 29 March 2018 for formal bail application and for further Police investigations.
It is alleged that on 215 March 2018, the suspect has severely assaulted her 5-year-old boy with a wooden stick accusing him of losing the school shoes. During this ordeal, the victim sustained serious injuries throughout his body.
The child was taken to the hospital for medical treatment and was thereafter taken to the place of safety.
The Police investigations are still continuing.
“Child safety and child welfare is everybody’s business and all parents and guardians, must immediately stop these acts of abuse children or they will be dealt with accordingly,” concluded Lt General Ledwaba.
