Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to Redcliffe Primary School in Redcliffe – Verulam after receiving reports of a fire on the premises.
Upon arrival, Reaction Officers were led to a classroom that was engulfed in flames. With the use of hosepipes, Offices managed to contain the fire to one of the classrooms until Firemen arrived and extinguished the blaze.
It was established that members of a local Church were using the school premises to host an Easter festival when a gas stove caught alight in one of the classrooms. While attempting to extinguishing the fire the gas cylinder fell over which resulted in blankets and a table catching alight.
No one was injured in the fire.
