Fight against cable theft continues

Tshwane Metro Police officers together with the SAPS recovered more stolen cables on Thursday, 31 May 2018.

The officers responded to a complaint about people who were digging up cables in Sinoville.

The TMPD and SAPS responded to the call and rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival they found cables lying around, but no suspects were found. A truck was however spotted driving away near the scene.

No arrests have been made yet. We commend members of the public who contacted the police after suspecting that a crime was being committed.

This comes after a major bust was made a week ago in Hercules where a male suspect was arrested when found with cables with an estimated value of R500 000.

The TMPD will continue to work very hard to curb cable theft in Tshwane.

Patrols and static points will be intensified in hotspots to safeguard cables.

We encourage more members of the public to report any suspicious activity to the TMPD at 012 358 7095/6 or to the SAPS, as this crime affects the whole community.
