SAPS’s National Youth Crime Prevention Summit maps way forward to a safer South Africa

“The aim of this summit is to consolidate inputs from young people with the view of developing a Youth Crime Prevention Strategy in response to the involvement of young people in criminal activities, both as perpetrators and victims,” said the Deputy Minister of Police at the opening of National Youth Summit.

More than 500 young people from across the country converged in Pretoria for the first-ever National Youth Crime Prevention Summit which seeks to increase youth participation in the fight against crime. Representatives of the Deaf Youth Structures, Albinism Youth Structure and Junior Provincial Commissioners are in attendance.

The summit also falls within the South African Police Service (SAPS)’s Youth Crime Prevention Strategy, which is aimed at empowering and supporting young people to become self-sufficient and support crime prevention initiatives.
