Port Elizabeth K9 Unit members arrest house robbery suspects

After receiving information of a house robbery in Kabega Park, members of the K9 Unit immediately scouted the area for the vehicle taken in the robbery as well as three suspects.

It is alleged that on Wednesday, 11 July 2018 at about 02:50, a 27-year-man heard a noise outside his front door in Masson Street in Francis Evert Park in Kabega Park. When he opened the door, a 22-year-old female known to him was at the door. As he opened the security gate, two other males entered the house. One male produced a firearm and the complainant was tied up with electrical cords. His cell phone, a 32inch TV and his gold coloured Opel Corsa Lite vehicle was taken. He managed to free himself and alert police.

About twenty minutes later, members of PE K9 unit spotted the vehicle at the Caltex garage in Cape Road. Two suspects, the female and a 38-year-old male was arrested. A .22 pistol was found in the woman’s possession and the stolen cell phone on the male suspect. The TV was found in the car. The third suspect is yet to be arrested.

The female will be detained on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and house robbery and the male suspect will be detained on a charge of house robbery.

The suspects will appear in court on Friday, 13 July 2018. The case is being investigated by the Mount Road Cluster Detective Trio Task Team.
