A 46-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol following a collision in the Verulam CBD a short while ago.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to Wick Street in the vicinity of First National Bank after a Toyota Avanza collided into a stationary Toyota Run X. Upon arrival Reaction Officers found the driver of the Toyota Avanza under the influence of alcohol.
Witnesses reported seeing the Toyota Avanza travelling down Wick Street before it veered into oncoming traffic and collided into the stationary vehicle. The intoxicated man informed Officers that he was asleep in his vehicle which was parked on the roadside and could not explain how it had rolled. No one was injured in the collision.
The Redcliffe – Verulam resident was handed over to SAPS.
