Five (5) passengers and a driver were injured this morning (Friday) when two taxi’s collided at an intersection on the Umdloti Beach Road near Waterloo.
Reaction Unit South Africa were called out at approx 07:36 by passing motorists who witnessed the accident. Reaction Officer & Paramedics arrived on scene & treated five (5) of the injured. They were transported to Mt Edgecombe & Osindisweni Hospital. The Umdloti KZN Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) were in attendance. An elderly female (picture 5) who initially refused medical attention was transported privately to the RUSA Offices after she experienced severe pain on her back & legs. Paramedics treated the woman & transported her to Hospital.
According to passengers in both taxis, one of the drivers had disregarded the red robot & drove onto the part of travel of the second taxi.
Both taxi’s were picking up passengers from the Waterloo area.
