Three appear in court for human trafficking

Eastern Cape Women In Policing celebrated Women’s Day yesterday throughout the Province by conducting Operation Basadi and also through various community outreach campaigns.

In the Queenstown Cluster, SAPS Women together with Provincial Traffic Department, searched 1036 people, 272 vehicles were stopped and inspected to ensure safety.

SAPS members of the Aliwal-North Cluster conducted a door-to-door campaign at Thembisa where pamphleteers were distributed and after that 31 vehicles were checked and 84 people searched. A joint roadblock between the SAPS and the Traffic department was held on the Lady-Grey crossing.

Operation Basadi closed two shebeens and seized nearly 200 litres of liquor valued over R6 000-00 in Jeffreys Bay.

Members of the Grahamstown Cluster held an awareness on crimes against women as well as domestic violence.
