Four suspects aged between 15 and 36 years have been arrested following the double murder that occurred at Ezintenteni at Ndevana in the early hours.
It is alleged that two young males aged 24 years and 29 years were both assaulted to death by the community members. They both died on the scene of the crime. Police opened a case of murder for investigation.
Follow up investigation by Detective Task Team led to the arrest of the four suspects this afternoon. They will appear at Zwelitsha Magistrate’s Court soon.
The Cluster Commander for King William’s Town Brigadier Luntu Ngubelanga condemns the actions taken by the community members that led to this double murder. The arrest of these suspects send a strong message to the communities that police will arrest those who take the law into their own hands, he said. He encouraged communities to report to the nearest Police Stations when incidents of this nature occur in their areas rather than to assault other people, he added.
