Train operations had been halted after commuters vandalised a train station at Umlazi and train coaches were torched.
MEC Kaunda, accompanied by KZN SAPS Deputy Provincial Commissioner Major-General Bheki Langa and KZN PRASA Spokesperson Mr Zama Nomnganga assessed the stability of train operations during a ride from Umlazi to Clairwood stations, and through interaction with train commuters.
