A 23 year old man was seriously injured after he stabbed himself in an attempt to commit suicide at his home on Onyx Road in Everest Heights today (Wednesday).
At approximately 14:08 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the residence after receiving a call from the victim’s mother requesting assistance after he grabbed a kitchen knife (picture 2) and locked himself in the bathroom threatening to take his life. Upon arrival Reaction Officers were informed that a builder working on the property forced open the bathroom door (picture 3) and grabbed the knife from the suicidal man.
He had already stabbed himself in the throat and was bleeding excessively from his wound. Medics treated him on scene before transporting him to hospital by ambulance.
It was not established as to why the man had attempted to commit suicide.
