A 53-year-old suspect who allegedly killed two women at Tongaat area this week, handed himself over to Pietermaritzburg police station yesterday. He was then transferred to Tongaat police station where he will be charged with two counts of murder. A licensed firearm suspected to be used during the shooting was also recovered. The suspect is expected to appear in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court soon.
On Monday, 7 October 2018 at 07:40, the bodies of two women were found in their house at Magwaveni area, Tongaat with gunshot wounds. They were identified as Nombuso Dube (33) and her mother Mtokozile Dube (70). They were shot and killed in what is believed to be a domestic related incident. A case of murder was opened at Tongaat police station and detectives began with their investigation which eventually resulted in the arrest of the accused.
