The South African Police Service in Limpopo continue to make significant achievement in the fight against crime affecting the protected endangered species which are still prevalent in some parts of the Province.
This became evident when four (04) suspects aged between 24 and 30, being three (03) men and one (01) woman were arrested in Giyani this week for the possession of a pangolin along the Ngove Road outside Giyani. These suspects were arrested during an intelligence driven operation composed of the Provincial Stock Theft Unit, the Giyani Cluster Crime Intelligence and the Detectives during the arrest, one (01) live pangolin was recovered wrapped with a cloth and it was immediately handed over to the Wild Life Conservationists for safety.
The suspects will appear before the Giyani Magistrate Court soon on a charge of possession of protected species.
Meanwhile, in the Tzaneen Policing area, three (03) suspects aged between 25 and 35 were arrested in possession of pangolin which was also handed over to the same Authority for safety.
The suspects will also appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate Court soon.
The Police investigations on both the incidents are still continuing.
