Two people were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in overturned on the R102 between the Verulam and Ottawa intersection on Friday.
At approximately 15:42 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the scene after receiving multiple calls from passing motorists reporting the accident. Upon arrival two occupants of a VW Golf were being treated for serious injuries by medics from a private ambulance service.
It is alleged that the VW Golf was travelling south on the R102 when the driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a metal barrier separating the north & southbound lane (picture 6). The vehicle then overturned and both driver and passenger were ejected from the car.
Traffic was delayed due to one lane of the road being closed (Picture 4). Debris from the extensively damaged vehicle was strewn across the northbound lane.
