A 72-hour activation plan yielded good results when five male suspects aged between 27-40 were arrested in earlier today in connection with a case of robbery and kidnapping that occurred on a farm in Doorinkloof near Fort Beaufort, yesterday, 15 October 2018.
The suspects are alleged to have gained access to the farm premises, kidnapped a young lady and stole two farm vehicles as well as several other items from the farm before fleeing the scene.
A multi-disciplinary task team comprising of Organized Crime, Crime Intelligence, Vispol and Detectives was assembled, who worked throughout the night following up on leads until they secured these arrests. The young lady was found unharmed in one of the stolen vehicles. She is currently receiving trauma counselling.
The Eastern Cape Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga praised the police task team for their investigation which resulted in multiple arrests. “I applaud the team for the swift breakthrough. I am also elated that the young lady is reunited with her family unscathed. Once again we have stamped our authority to say Eastern Cape has zero tolerance for criminals.”
The suspects are expected to appear in court soon this week.
The investigation still continues.
