Three suspects aged 28 and 40 are due to appear in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court today facing robbery charges. They were arrested yesterday immediately after they allegedly robbed a woman of an undisclosed amount of cash at Oribi Plaza.
Yesterday morning, the complainant in this matter, was at Oribi Plaza to deposit cash at the bank. While she was about to enter the bank, she was approached by two suspects who allegedly sprayed her with unknown substance and they took the cash, bank register and a cheque of R1 000. The suspects fled the scene in their getaway VW Polo vehicle that was waiting for them. Local police were immediately alerted and a search ensued for the getaway vehicle. Other police units in the area were also mobilized and the said vehicle was spotted and intercepted. Two suspects managed to flee the scene on foot but were later arrested by the police officers. The third suspect was arrested inside the vehicle. The stolen cash as well as bank register and cheque were recovered from the suspects.
