A 39 year old man is in a serious condition after he was shot during a suspected botched hijacking on Cedar Close in Trenance Park – Verulam.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the scene by a member of public requesting assistance for the victim. Upon arrival the man was found to have sustained a single gunshot wound to his abdomen which exited his left thigh. He was stabilised on scene before being rushed to hospital by ambulance in a serious but stable condition.
It is alleged that the victim had left home at 05:30 to go to work. As he approached the entrance of Cedar Close in his Toyota Corolla he was shot through his window by a suspect standing on the roadside. The armed assailant and his accomplice then fled the scene without taking the vehicle.
Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search for the suspects however no arrests were made.
