The Intervention team deployed by the Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga over the weekend is hot on the heels of criminals in the Mount Road and Motherwell Clusters.
On Wednesday, 17 October 2018 at about 20:00, the team headed by Col Amos Vinqi acted on intelligence information received about suspects with a firearm at Impala Flats in Sidwell. Observation duties were held and after 3 hours, when the alleged suspects failed to appear, the rubbish bin inside the complex was searched and a shotgun was retrieved. Police have opened an enquiry docket.
Lt Gen Ntshinga indicated that “This team will be in the faces of criminals and we will be squeezing their space until they leave our areas The team have already started making a difference in the hotspot areas of both clusters with significant arrests made since their deployment.’
