A 38-year-old off-duty security officer was stabbed during a robbery in Phoenix – KZN this afternoon (Friday).
At approximately 18:40 members of Reaction Unit South Africa was called out to a soft drink company in Phoenix after the victim was dropped off at the premises by a taxi. He was bleeding excessively from a stab wound to his face. He was also stabbed in the chest. Medics treated him on scene before transporting him to hospital in a serious by stable condition.
According to the victim he was walking through a shortcut after work to catch a train to Kwadabeka when he was accosted by two suspects. One suspect was armed with a knife and asked the victim to hand over his valuables. The victim attempted to fight off the suspects when he was stabbed twice. The suspects then stole his wallet containing approximately R200 in cash before they fled on foot.
The victim managed to make his way out to the road where he was assisted by a taxi driver who drove him to his place of employment. His colleagues then contacted RUSA for assistance.
Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search for the suspects however no arrests were made.
