Appointment of new RTI station commanders affirms stability

The Department of Transport has appointed station commanders in its five Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) stations, affirming certainty and stability in the stations ahead of the festive season.

The newly promoted Chief Provincial Inspectors who resumed their duties on the 1st of October are deployed at Ulundi RTI, Mtubatuba RTI, Umdloti RTI, Greytown RTI and Midway RTI.

The stations have had the posts vacant over a period of time and the promotion of these Inspectors is seen as a significant move to ensure effective and efficient service delivery and proper management in the respective stations.

RTI Acting Director Bert Davis says that the Station Commanders were appointed at the right time when the festive season is approaching, the period where most crashes happen.

“Their appointment will ensure that the stations have proper communication and accountability which will help to achieve better service delivery to internal and external stakeholders.”

“We are adamant that once they have settled in their respective stations accidents on our roads will be reduced even further than the 1.2 percent that we committed to during the period of February to June this year. I would like to congratulate them and wish them well in their stations. I hope they will take their stations to greater heights,” says Davis.
