Four suspects were arrested when police recovered illegal firearms and ammunition from protesters gathered in Bizana.
Yesterday 30/10, whilst police were monitoring a protest action in Bizana, they received information on illegal firearms in possession of the groups. Police proceeded to search an abandoned vehicle that was pointed out with an NPS registration and recovered firearms and ammunition. No one was arrested however all due processes were done and firearms will be forwarded for forensic testing to ascertain their earlier use in commission of crime.
Later the same day more information was followed up that led them to a vehicle where four(4) male occupants were found. During a search a 9mm firearm with more than 300 rounds of ammunition. The suspects aged between 27-42 were arrested and face charges for possession of unlicensed firearms and unlawful possession of ammunition, will appear in the Bizana Magistrate’s Court facing the respective charges today.
No damage was caused during the protest, and police continue to monitor the situation.
