The vigilance and swift response by members of the Western Cape Flying Squad landed two hijackers behind bars shortly after they perpetuated a robbery of a courier company vehicle. Yesterday at around 10:30 a courier van was hijacked in Sunbird Park, Kuilsrivier by three armed suspects, who later fled in a blue Corsa after the cargo was transferred from the hijacked vehicle.
The Corsa was spotted by police, who reacted on the complaint, and following a pursuit where gunshots were exchanged between the police and the suspects, the driver of the Corsa lost control and made an accident on the R300.
Two suspects aged 34 and 35 were arrested, with the stolen cargo. The firearm used in the robbery, a Norinco 9mm with seven rounds of ammunition was also recovered. The third suspect managed to evade arrest and is being sought. One of the suspects was admitted to hospital with injuries. Once they have been charged, they will make a court appearance in Kuilsrivier.
