The burnout was successful and completed at 23h00. On the southern foot of the Jonkersberg mountain, above farmlands of Geelhoutboom and Groeneweide.
The second burnout planned for last night, on the Waboomskraal side, could not take place due to unfavourable weather conditions. Backburn operations are currently being re-assesed for completion.
A successful burn will prevent the fire to spread to the Doring Rivier farmlands. This will also ensure the containment of the Jonkersberg fire.

DUBBELBERG/SPITSKOP
Three hectares fire active on the mountain, which is inaccessible for ground crews. SanParks will monitor and fight the fire as soon as conditions allow. Fire is 2km from Dubbelberg Plantation to the east.
DIEPWALLE
Area contained. PG Bison will patrol the area.
GARCIA FIRE
South-east flank is contained. MTO crew busy with mopping-up operations and patrolling of the fire line.
North-west flank (head of fire) – a continuation of a backburn implemented last night to secure and contain the fire from spreading further west and away from farm infrastructure.
