Two dogs and three birds were rescued by members of Reaction Unit South Africa during a fire at the dead end of Maiters Lane on Temple Valley – Verulam.
Reaction Unit South Africa received multiple calls from residents in the area reporting three shacks on fire. Upon arrival Reaction Officers found the informal homes engulfed in flames. Officers retrieved several household items from the buring homes before they evacuated residents from neighbouring properties as the fire spread due to heavy winds. Two dogs and three birds were rescued by Reaction Officers from one home.
The blaze was extinguished by the Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services. The the informal homes were gutted in the fire.
