Housebreakers apprehended in Verulam

The suspect pictured was arrested by members of Reaction Unit South Africa after he attempted to steal valuables from a property on Alamanda Road in Sanna Township – Verulam.

Reaction Officers were dispatched to the home after receiving a call from a resident reporting three suspects on their property. Upon arrival RUSA Members surrounded the premises and apprehended one of the suspects as he attempted to flee up an embankment at the rear of the property.

The suspect claimed that he and his accomplices were scrap metal collectors. They further explained that they entered the property to search for scrap metal and were unaware that the domestic worker and the homeowner’s son were at home at the time.

Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search for the remaining suspects however no further arrests were made.
