Search for parents of abandoned children in Verulam

Two children aged six (6) and two (2) were abandoned at a relatives home on Buffels Drive in Inanda – KZN on Christmas Eve.

At approximately 08:58 this morning (Thursday) the RUSA Operations Centre received a call from a resident of Mimosa Road in Lotusville requesting assistance. The caller explained that her domestic worker had informed her that the older of the two children arrived at her home on Tuesday afternoon and informed her that his mother needed an ambulance due to her being unwell. When she exited her home she found his two year old sister standing outside. The childrens father is her distant relative.

They proceeded to the mother’s home however she could not be located. She cared for the children since the day they arrived at her home and when she returned to work today she informed her employer of the incident. Her employer then contacted Reaction Unit South Africa for assistance.

RUSA Members proceeded to the area and attempted to gather information from the children regarding the whereabouts of their parents without success. The only information the older child could provide was that his name is Boy and his sister’s name is Pinky. He is a grade 1 learner at Zinzileni Primary School in Inanda.

The children were transported to the Verulam SAPS and Police are currently attempting to track down their parents.
