A Limpopo Saps Dedicated joint task team has been set up and they have launched a massive manhunt for a group of armed suspects involved in an armed robbery in the early hours of this morning, 8 January in the Modimolle policing area.
According to police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, at around 05:00 this morning, a Toyota Quantum towing a trailor was parked at the Engen-One-Stop Garage next to the N1 South, after experiencing mechanical problems.
“While the victims were relaxing inside the minibus, a group of six suspects armed with firearms, opened the doors, robbed the driver and passengers of their money and cellphones. These suspects unlocked the trailer from the minibus in an attempt to steal the vehicle but they failed and fled the scene on foot into the nearby bushes,” he explained.
A total of 16 cellphones and an undisclosed amount of money was taken and there were no injuries or fatalities. The police have since opened a case of armed robbery for further investigations.
