Detectives from Seafield SAPS are seeking the assistance of the community in tracking down a suspect who shot and killed a homeowner in his 70’s.
According to the severely traumatised spouse of the deceased, at around 23:30 last night 21 January 2019, she saw someone at the window and alerted her sleeping husband. As he tried to alight from the bed, the suspect who was standing at the bedroom window, stuck his body through the window and shot the victim. He then fled the scene. During the preliminary investigation, forensic experts collected an item of clothing, possibly belonging to the suspect.
Brigadier Morgan Govender, the Port Alfred’s Cluster Commander, expressed his shock at this incident and said today, “We are deeply shocked by this incident and extend our condolences to the family and friends of the victim. We make an appeal to the community to assist the SAPS with their investigation.”
