A suspected syndicate to appear in court after they were found with stolen goods to the value of R70 000

A suspected syndicate comprising of one male (21) and four females between the ages of 23 and 31 was arrested on Friday in Kimberley after they were found in possession of suspected stolen goods to the value of R70 000.

On Friday, 01 February 2019 at about 14:30, the police were summoned to Mcdougal Street in Kimberley where a vehicle with suspicious occupants have been spotted in a parking lot. Upon their arrival at the scene, three suspects had already been arrested by the security guards from Diamond Pavillion Mall. Two of their accomplices, a male (driver) and a female, were still inside the mall and were arrested already after they were found with stolen goods from one of the stores.

Some of the stores at the mall have been affected by shoplifting.  Further investigations led the police to establish a link between the two groups from Kwa-Zulu Natal and more suspected stolen goods from various stores based at Diamond Pavillion Mall were found inside their vehicle. They are suspected to be operating throughout the country as they are on the wanted list of other police stations in other provinces.

Their vehicle, a Toyota Corolla was seized by the police and booked into the SAPS 13 store along with the recovered stolen goods. They will all be appearing at Kimberley Magistrate’s Court this morning (Monday 04 February 2019) facing charges of theft and possession of suspected stolen goods.
