A 23 year old self confessed drug dealer was run over on the north bound lane of the R102 in the vicinity of the Verulam intersection while being chased by a robber this afternoon (Friday).
At approximately 17:46 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the scene by passing motorists reporting the pedestrian vehicular accident. Upon arrival the Waterloo – Verulam resident explained that he was being pursued by an unknown individual was attempting to rob him of his back pack containing R2000 worth of marijuana.
In an attempt to evade the robber he fled across the R102 when he was run over by a Renault Megane that was travelling towards Tongaat. The suspect then stole the pedestrian’s bag and fled in an unknown direction. The pedestrian sustained a broken leg while a 28 year old female passenger in the Renault Megane sustained minor injuries in the accident.
The two were transported to hospital by ambulance.
