The police in Kuruman have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with a case of burglary business. The suspect’s Amarok bakkie with number plates covered with plastic was stopped by police at 03:00 this morning in Kuruman.
The bakkie was searched and cigarettes estimated at about R100 000.00 were discovered. The suspect could not give satisfactory explanation of the cigarettes and was immediately arrested. An undisclosed amount of cash was also confiscated from the suspect.
While police were busy processing the suspect at Kuruman police station, the shop owner whose cigarettes were stolen reported the theft. The cigarettes were positively identified as belonging to the shop owner.
The Station Commander of Kuruman, Brig Kenneth Baloyi applauded the good work rendered by Captain Amogelang Segano and Constable Monageng Makoke who effected the arrest.
The shop owner whose cigarettes were stolen also appreciated the prompt reaction by the police. He said it was the good work rendered by police which will improve the good image of the police.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Kuruman Magistrates court on Monday, 18 February 2019.
Police investigation is continuing.
