K9 hero “Tyson” helps police find body of Missing woman in shallow grave in Tshwane West

Police in Gauteng are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 42-year old woman whose body was discovered by police on Tuesday 19 February 2019 between 15:00 and 16:00, buried in a shallow grave near the R511 road in Pretoria West.

It can be confirmed that the deceased had been reported missing on Monday 18 February 2019 at Edenvale SAPS. Through collaboration by police from Limpopo and Gauteng with Tracker, police were able to confirm that a partially burnt Mercedes Benz found by Limpopo police in Jane Furse, belonged to the Edenvale woman.

Sergeant Henning of Pretoria K9 on Tuesday, 19 February 2019, employed the services of search-and-rescue dog “Tyson”, who reacted positively to a spot in the veld and after some digging, the police found a travel suitcase. Further “investigation” by Tyson led to another positive reaction to the suitcase in which the body of the deceased was found.

A post mortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

A motive is yet to be determined while police are at this stage appealing for information from the public towards establishing the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, and towards the apprehension of the perpetrator(s) of this crime.
