On Sunday, 14 April 2019 at about 17:00, members attached to Grassy Park Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) were busy with crime prevention duties in Parkwood area due to the current shooting incidents in Grassy Park. While patrolling, members received information that a suspected gangster was dealing in drugs in Willow Road, Parkwood and he could be possible in possession of a firearm.
Members followed up the information and searched the suspect’s residence, which led to the discovery of two bank sachets containing a large amount of tik and 50 mandrax tablets wrapped in foil, with an estimated street value of R15 000-00. They also found a Smith and Wesson revolver of which the serial number was removed.
The suspect tried to evade arrest, by running away but members arrested him before he could reach the road.
The 46 year old suspect was detained on charges of dealing, alternatively possession of drugs, possession of unlicensed firearm, prohibited firearm and resisting arrest and he will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate Court once charged.
