The Deputy Minister of Transport, Ms Sindisiwe Chikunga will hand over ICT equipment and bicyles to leaners at Amahlubi Secondary School in Escort, KwaZulu-Natal.
The ICT infrastructure was donated by an entity of the Department of Transport, the Air Traffic Navigation Services (ATNS).
ATNS has adopted the promotion of mathematics and physical science as its flagship project. ATNS and the Department of Transport encourage the learners to study maths and science at secondary school level, through this programme.
To date, ATNS has provided ICT and Science laboratories to several rural schools in eight South African provinces through its maths and science flagship project.
Deputy Minister Chikunga will also donate 75 bicycles to learners at Amahlubi Secondary School through the Department’s Shova kalula National Bicycle project.
The Shova Kalula project was pioneered by the Department of Transport in 2001. It is an intervention to improve mobility and access to basic education
