The theft of two bicycles worth R80 000, for a couple in Sutherland, nearly ruined the couple’s race.
The couple from Cape Town, slept in Sutherland last night in order to participate in the cycling race from Sutherland to Merweville.
The couple’s bicycles were reportedly stolen. Three Sutherland members who were doing patrols early this morning, noticed two male suspects with the bicycles. They could not give proper explanation for the bicycles and were immediately arrested.
The couple could not believe when reporting the bicycles theft at Sutherland SAPS when told the good news. The bicycles were recovered in time before the commencement of their race today at 08:00.
The couple thanked the members involved that is Constables Keyser,Sederas and Prins.
The Station Commander of Sutherland, Captain Malan applauded the members for the good work rendered.
The suspects are expected to appear before the local Magistrates court on Monday, 06 May 2019.
