Two electricians suffered burns following an explosion at a substation in Vredehoek, Cape Town, while they were trying to restore power to the area. This after several suburbs suffered power outages due to the high winds and rain on Friday evening.
ER24 paramedics arrived at 10:42 am Saturday morning along with several other services. The two men, believed to be in their 30s, had sustained burns while opening the electrical box. One suffered serious injuries and was treated with Advanced Life Support interventions, the other suffered moderate injuries. Both were taken to a private hospital in the area for further care.
The exact cause of the explosion is not known to ER24 but the Fire and Electrical Departments as well as SAPS were on the scene for further investigations.
