A boy believed to be about 4-years-old was returned to the care of his neighbour in Malukazi this afternoon (Tuesday) by Alpha Alarms Response members after he was found wandering the streets of Orient Hills, Isipingo, from yesterday (Monday).
Concerned residents in Orient discovered the lost boy, who is alleged to have spent the night in a bin room and attempted to find his family.
A resident watched over the boy whilst enquiries were made and an appeal was posted on Facebook. During this time, the boy ran away.
Alpha Alarms sought to assist and Alpha Alarms Response members searched for the child.
An Alpha Alarms member located the little boy in Lotus Drive.
He appeared disoriented. The child could only remember his dad’s name and it was later discovered that his father is deceased. Alpha members searched for the child’s family and questioned residents.
Feedback from the community revealed that the boy lived in Malukazi.
The little boy was taken to Malukazi where concerned neighbours came out in numbers to identify the child.
As per the neighbours, the mum was at work.
A willing neighbour offered to supervise the boy until his mum returned home.
Members of the community who tried valiantly to help find the child’s family and the Alpha Alarms officers are commended for going the extra mile to get the lost little boy home.
The community really rallied together and showed concern and support.
Alpha Alarms urges parents and care givers to supervise children and ensure that they are safe and sound at all times.
Please arrange proper care for children with responsible adults.
It is frightening to imagine what harm could have befallen this little boy had he not been found and helped today.
