GAUTENG – Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Ravela is one of the many dedicated, patriotic and selfless South African Police Service employees (SAPS) who continue to raise the SAPS’s flag high, and vividly show their love for the country.
The courage and heroism displayed by Lt Col Ravela, define the commitment of the true police official who prioritises the safety and well-being of his countrymen, despite the undesirable consequences that come with policing.
Lt Col Ravela was shot while he and other police officials were doing crime prevention in Brown Street, Pretoria Central. His police instincts told him to confront a suspicious person who was running, unaware that the man and his accomplices had just committed a business robbery.
While Lt Col Ravela was questioning the suspect why he was running, shots were fired from the getaway vehicle, leaving him wounded. Lt Col Ravela was the shift commander at Brooklyn Police Station.
Lt Col Ravela is currently a shift commander in Mbombela area and regardless of his current situation, he still continues to serve and protect the members of the public without limits.
The enthusiastic Lt Col Ravela says:
“Irrespective of the situation, I am back on duty and continue to make a difference in the community and to my beloved country.
The best part of my work, is reaping the fruits of the efforts I passionately rendered, by serving and protecting the vulnerable lives and delivering good quality service to those in need.
Although my work is demanding, I am always ready and prepared to serve the nation, because it gives me pleasure at the end of my shift to know that many are and feel safe.”
