KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mxolisi Kaunda and MEC for Human Settlement and Public Works, Ms Peggy Nkonyeni, announced various infrastructure development projects for the Community of eMalangeni in Umdoni Municipality today(24 July 2019).
The MECs unveiled a 500-unit housing development project which will bring to 1000 the total number of government-built houses in the area.
They also gave an update on the construction of Esperanza River Bridge and the maintenance of D13. MEC Kaunda told the community that the Department of Transport has already started the designs for the new bridge, which will be followed by the environmental impact assessments.
In responding to water and electricity challenges in the area, the municipality is currently implementing water works and electrification projects.
“This is a clear indication that we are a caring government that is committed in improving the living conditions of poor people,” said Kaunda.
