POLOKWANE – Police in Malamulele have arrested four suspects aged between 23 and 30 for committing an armed robbery yesterday, 18 September 2019 at Mafanele village.
A 31-year-old man was allegedly driving a bakery vehicle from a local spaza shop when he was attacked by a group of armed men who pointed him with firearms instructing him to stop.
The victim tried to drive off but his vehicle was shot while other suspects emerged and blocked his car from behind. Subsequently, the victim was driven to nearby bushes by the suspects, who assaulted and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash, cellphones, ID book and bank cards before fleeing the scene.
Police were notified and responded by following the tracks of the suspects until they were nabbed a short distance from the scene.
A Toyota Corolla sedan, 05 cellphones, 02 firearms with 13 rounds of ammunition, USB and cash believed to be stolen were recovered.
The suspects will appear before the Malamulele Magistrate court soon, on charges of armed robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
